Reveal Party
Emily Holm Nyhuss, better known as Reveal Party, writes songs about existing in a
chaos of complicated feelings, and how sometimes you need to cut all ties with
them when they get too tough to handle. »Cut your feelings, like me«, is her quiet
advice in her opening number on her debut EP ‘You Stole a Year of My Life’, which
in 2020 established Reveal Party as one of the strongest upcoming bands in the
Danish music industry. The EP gathered praise from both Danish and
international media.
Reveal Party tells stories of love and her life as a trans woman with a tongue-in
cheek, piercing sarcasm. Her source of inspiration is both midwest emo and
uplifting pop-songs, and therefore Reveal Party’s music both invites in
melancholy and hope. The common denominators of the songs are her cutting,
raw lyrics, Emily’s soft, yet strong voice, and an army of distorted guitars.
Reveal Party has gotten airtime on P6 Beat and P3, and given big interviews for
DR Kultur, Go’ Morgen Danmark, Kulturen på På P1, Femina and Soundvenue. This
summer Reveal Party played at Roskilde Festival and last year she accepted the music
award at Danish Rainbow Awards 2021.
Said about Reveal Party:
»The game between the jarring, messy guitars and the shallow elements in
Nyhuus’ vocal is a beautiful, sharp contrast and you can go on and on diving in
to the detailed soundscapes« – Soundvenue (DK)
»The honesty and strength inherent in these richly-textured pop songs weave a
battle flag for trans people everywhere. At the heart of the music is the deep and
universal dream of love triumphing over fear«. – The Fandomentals (US)
»’You Stole a Year of My Life’ is a fresh experience and a vulnerable EP, which tells
a story of a tough period in a life, we don’t often get to hear about « – Gaffa (DK)
